Directions to TLC

The TLC program offers early education services that focus on the whole child and family, with specific focus on an individual child’s developmental goals and each family’s goals and needs.

Tacoma Learning Center’s services include developmentally appropriate encouragement and education in all five areas of child development: cognition, communication, fine and gross motor skills, adaptive functioning and social-emotional development. The philosophy of TLC centers on the belief that parents are a child’s first and best teachers; therefore, all services focus on parent education, training and support.

Tacoma Learning Center offers the following services to children and their families:

    • Early education & BEARS services in the child’s home, child care center, community settings or in TLC’s classrooms, by certified early education teachers.
    • Cooperative Preschool classes for children ages birth to three; Affiliated with Bates Home and Family Life Dept. and offer college credit for parents who participate.
    • Therapeutic consultations by Occupational and Speech Therapists; Therapeutic, cooperative playgroups
    • Parent education and support to help parents assist their child in meeting his/her individual developmental goals.
    • Field trips, family gatherings and periodic family respite services.  These allow children and parents opportunities to explore our community.

TLC continuously improves and adapts its programs to keep up with the best practices to serve young children with varying abilities.
